Hymn to the Sun

Aeschylus

O radiant Sun, O Helios, lord of light,

With thy bright beams illumining the world,

Why hidest thou thyself from mortal gaze,

And shroudest in deep gloom thy radiant form,

While fearful storms and darkness wide prevail?

O come, dispel the clouds that veil thy face,

And show thy splendor to our longing eyes.

This is just a portion of what remains from "Hymn to the Sun" by Aeschylus. Unfortunately, much of the text has been lost to time.
